Part of participating in an event like Probloggers Top 5 - Group Writing Project is of course visiting, reading and when relevant commenting and linking to the other participants. I screened the entire list for posts that were relevant to the subject area of this blog (read communication, blogging, community, conversation, interaction, etc.). This is the second batch of recommended reads in no particular order:

Top Five Keys to Successful Persuasive Writing
“Think about your purpose and your audience. Put yourself in your readers’ shoes - and in their heads. If you’re trying to persuade someone to take a certain position on an issue, consider how the issue affects them.” Lillie Ammann writes about writing with passion about something important to you, writing with your readers in mind, writing to be understood, writing to appeal to your readers’ emotions and writing to give your readers logical justifications for their decision. Each point is explained and illustrated with examples that anyone can relate to, which in my humble opinion makes it a good read regardless of your prior writing experience.

Top 5 Blogging Myths
“Despite the huge popularity of blogs around the Internet many people still have a distorted view of the whole phenomenon. Blogs are nothing more than online diaries; blogs are not credible; you can not make money with blogs… or so the argument goes.” When you read this post please don’t get caught up in the myths and whether they are true or not, but read Daniel Scocco’s comments carefully as this is where the quality of his post lie. Even before the Group Writing projects this was one of my favorite blogs and one every serious blogger should subscribe to. Only very few blogs are are able to continuously offer useful and practical advice and this is one of them.

Five Things I Hate About Blogging
“… the last three months in the blogging world has made me realize that, while I love the concepts behind blogging and being a problogger, there’s a lot about the blogging culture that drives me more than a little crazy. In fact, there are some things I outright hate.” This article touches upon a couple of the same themes as my entry in the “contest”, but also brings up a couple of very relevant points that you are well advised being aware of before starting to blog. Most, if not all, can be combatted or ignored when you know about them and know they can become problems if not handled appropriately.

Top 5 Ways to Find What Makes You Happy
“The blogosphere — the wisdom of our fellow travelers — offers a lot of good life advice. So much good life advice that it’s sometimes hard to process it all. Here are four great pieces of advice originating from blogs I read and one piece of advice from me that, taken together, provide a more-or-less complete instruction manual for how to find out what makes you happy — in work, in life, in all things.” This post is not really within the scope of this blog, but I liked it so much I am including it anyway. Read it and find out why. The first two points do relate to communication actually and the last strikes a note also touched upon by the next post.

Top 5 Productivity Tips Most People Know But Do Not Do
“Reading a book is one thing, but applying it is a different thing. No wonder very few people experience what the authors write. The same thing applies to productivity. Many of us read productivity books or blogs and know a lot of productivity tips. Unfortunately, knowing doesn’t mean doing.” Well, what have I been saying since my first recommended list? You need to act on your reading! Donald Latumahina focuses on Productivity and as far as I am concerned is he right on the money with his title. You all know his tips, but very few of you are following them. At least until now.

Stay tuned for the next batch of great entries.

Thank you for mentioning my post as a favorite. There were so many excellent entries that it’s hard to pick favorites.
