About

Circular Communication is that form of communication that is meant to be both read and talked about - it flows in two directions. It is also communication about communication - everything is woven in a second layer. The aim is thus not just to communicate, but to communicate about communication and even to communicate about communicating about communication. Because of the starting point will blogging be a substantial, but not exclusive, part of the communication. This is not a blog about blogging, but a blog about communication that also communicates about blogging.

Most of what you read here is more or less directly rooted in systems theory. Most prominently in the work of German sociologist Niklas Luhmann who completely changed the way I think. Since burying myself in his very complex body of work as part of my studies, I have not directly used Luhman’s theory. I decided to revive it here as not to lose touch with it. What you witness when visiting is theory meeting practice in a community under development. It is also a continuous cycle of learning and teaching. With your support this could become an experience where everyone educates each other.

This site also aims to make a difference by reaching out, making connections and building communication bridges between people and sites. Both through links highlighting and communicating about worthwhile communication, but also by writing about process, content and form and thus trying to influence the way we communicate and especially how we communicate about communication. Hence inviting more people to participate in the communication, enabling more and more to communicate and to communicate better and to communicate with the communication itself in mind.

Because of the ideas underlying this site I ask everyone who can contribute to do so. Visitors are welcome, subscribers even more so, but if this is to work at least some of you will have to contribute by writing comments or perhaps even a post. If you have something to say or a contribution to make and prefer to do so in private you can do so by using my contact page. Every qualified contribution is appreciated and will be duly recognized. Who knows, perhaps can we even achieve what I would consider the greatest success of all - namely creating our own community within a circle of communities within the greater community. If you want to tag along for the journey, which in essence is the purpose in itself, you should definitely subscribe so you don’t miss out on anything.

You may be asking yourself who you are reading. Since this isn’t a blog about me this will have to suffice. I was born and lived the first years of my life in the city where the famous storyteller Hans Christian Andersen was born. I was born 59,393 days too late to share his exact birthday. After moving across my native country until I reached it’s capital I moved almost 1000km south a few years back. Currently, am I living and working in a smaller city lying on a wine route, 500km from Paris, 700km from London, 700km from Berlin and 600km from Milano.

I have a B.Sc. in Business Administration and Management Research (with English and German) as well as a M.Sc. in Economics and Business Administration (Majors in strategy, organization and management). My master thesis was called “Identity is Difference” with the subtitle “A theoretical deconstruction and reconstruction of the understanding of organizational identity based on Niklas Luhmann’s theory about self referential systems” and was very well received.

During my career have I worked in more positions within a number of companies in various industries as well as in more countries, cultures and languages. Moreover have I been working independently as a website publisher, advertising broker and internet consultant.

You may find out more by visiting orbinaut, which is my virtual home and the center of my online universe. There you’ll find references to most of what I do (online) including what I like, what I recommend checking out, what I write about and what I comment on.
